It seems like suddenly every household in America is faced with the inevitable… the Honey-Do list everyone suddenly has time for.
Real estate in many parts of the country looks different than it did just a month ago, but one thing is for certain: buyers are out there and inventory is low. If you have been thinking about selling your house, now is great time to get to that list of things you’ve been meaning to do. Contact us and we’d be happy to set up a video call with you for a free consultation where we’ll give you our suggestions for your home!
In the meantime, scroll down for some general things you can do while you’re at home.
Declutter/Organize
The best thing you can do for your home is show off it’s space, and sometimes the only way to do that is to go through your closets, storage spaces and open spaces and get rid of things. Storage space is a great sell on a listing, but let’s be real- do you really need to keep your grandmother’s decor that you have been hoarding since 1992, but have never touched? Take the time to organize and not only will you find you have way more space than you thought, but studies show it can actually positively impact your mental health and overall well-being. We can all use that right now, right?
Get to that Honey-Do List
Change the lightbulbs that have been out since October, power wash the patio, remove the wall paper in the powder room, change out that light fixture that has been sitting in the hall closet… every house is different and every honey-do list will be different. More than likely you have a list of things you have been hoping to get to and you probably already have the tools to do it. Go through room to room and pick out what needs to be updated, changed, cleaned, or fixed. Enlist your kids in your projects!
Landscape
Ah, the weather is getting warmer and spring is blooming. We may not be able to experience the great outdoors the way we usually would this time of year, but it’s the perfect opportunity to make your own yard an oasis (and catch some fresh air). Clean out those flower beds and spruce up your outdoor spaces. Stuck in a townhouse or condo with little or no yard? No problem. Take some cues from this article, about how to bring the green inside.
Deep Clean
Get geared up for spring cleaning and go *just* a little deeper into cleaning than usual. Kids are the perfect height to tackle those baseboards, and it might be just the thing to keep them busy.
Paint
Most people have cans of paint lurking in the back corner of the basement closet. It’s a great time to walk through the house and pin point which areas need to be freshened up. Or order paint supplies from your local hardware store. Neutral colors always win when selling a house. Fresh paint makes a space feel fresh and gives a buyer a better ability to see their own belongings in a space.
